Cookies and personal data

What this site measures
Czech Media Monitor is written and run by Filip Rožánek, a journalist covering the Czech media market. I want to know which texts people read, how they got here and whether the pages work for them. I do not find out anything beyond that and I do not sell it to anyone.
Until you agree, nothing is measured. No third-party script loads and no cookie is stored. That is not a form of words – it is how the site is built, and you can verify it in your browser’s developer tools.
What cookies are
A cookie is a short piece of text a site stores in your browser so it can recognise you next time. On its own it reveals nothing; what matters is what gets written into it and who reads it.
What runs without your consent
Nothing that is stored on your device.
The site sets no cookies of its own. Fonts are served from this domain, not from Google. Search runs entirely in your browser and what you type is never sent anywhere.
What cannot be avoided: for a page to reach you, a server has to send it, and for that it needs your IP address. It is processed by Cloudflare, through which this site runs. No profile is built from it and I never see it.
What loads once you agree
| Tool | Operated by | What it stores | For how long |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google Analytics 4 | Google Ireland Limited | _ga, _ga_PW55XEYFX3 |
2 years |
| Cloudflare Web Analytics | Cloudflare, Inc. | no cookies | — |
Google Analytics tells me how many people came, where from and what they read. The _ga cookie exists so that a repeat visit is not counted as a new one.
Cloudflare Web Analytics measures page speed and view counts without cookies and without identifying individual people.
There is no advertising on this site and I use no advertising tools. No data is therefore sent to Google for targeting; the relevant consent signals stay permanently switched off.
How to withdraw your consent
Through the Measurement settings link in the footer of any page. Consent also expires after twelve months, and I will ask again.
Your choice is kept in your browser’s storage rather than in a cookie – so not even that decision is sent anywhere.

Measurement data is processed on the basis of your consent under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR. You may withdraw consent at any time; withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing before it.
You have the right to know what I process about you, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict processing and to object to it. You may also contact the Czech Office for Personal Data Protection (external link).
Google Analytics is a service of Google Ireland Limited; data may also be processed outside the European Union. Cloudflare, Inc. is a US company. In both cases the transfer relies on standard contractual clauses.
